Physical therapy can help in athletic injury management, renewed muscle control, muscle strength, mobility increase, and much more.

One of the most important roles of a physical therapist who treats sports injuries is that of a teacher. Teaching preventative techniques to athletes, families, and coaches increases success and improves long-term outcomes for athletes recovering from injuries.

Because physical therapy doesn’t end when you leave our clinic, our physical therapy services include individualized home exercise programs. Providing instruction on proper technique and body awareness helps ensure exercises are performed correctly, minimizing your risk of reinjury.

Success Story

Morgan Shaw is like most thirteen-year-olds. She loves hanging out with her friends, spending time with her family and playing sports. In fact, Morgan is quite an athlete. Participating in alpine ski racing, cross country, track and softball, her schedule is brimming with activity. Unique for her age, Morgan is highly in-tune to her body. When in pain, she knows that there is a weakness that must be addressed to keep performing at a high level. But this
knowledge came at a price.
“Morgan has had a variety of injuries over the past two years, including an overuse injury as her team’s pitcher and a knee injury caused by ski racing,” said Christie Shaw, Morgan’s mother.

Understanding the importance of not letting pain or an injury snowball into a long-term problem,
they took Morgan to see Catherine “Cat” Jordan, PT, DPT at Step & Spine Physical Therapy’s Redmond clinic. During the evaluation, Cat was able to assess Morgan’s movements while simulating pitching. She then taught Morgan proper technique and exercises to build strength in the areas that were weakened.

“I have been very impressed with Cat’s knowledge in what she can do to help Morgan,” said Christie. “We don’t want a long-term injury to happen that will cause her to compensate for her natural motions and end up being harder to correct down the road.”
